Our Story
Luna came into my world as a rescue, and as it turns out, adopting her has been the best and most important decision I’ve ever made, sparking an inspiring journey I would have never expected to go on otherwise.
As a first-time dog owner, I didn't know much about canine nutrition. Like most pet parents, I started feeding Luna dry kibble, assuming it was healthy and safe. But soon, I noticed troubling signs: small bumps appearing on her skin, diagnosed as sebaceous cysts and comedones. Even after switching kibble brands several times, the bumps kept returning. It was then that I began researching exactly what was in Luna's food.
Around the same time, Luna developed a limp. After several anxious vet visits, I learned she had torn her ACL—a serious ligament injury. Surgery was recommended, but I was deeply hesitant. Luna had undergone surgery once before, and seeing her suffer afterward made me vow to avoid putting her through that pain again. Without her usual exercise, Luna gained weight, worsening her health and leading to another condition: a collapsed trachea. It broke my heart watching her sit on the sidelines at the park, unable to join the other dogs running and playing.
Determined to help Luna heal naturally, I spent countless nights researching canine nutrition and holistic wellness. Eventually, I developed fresh, nutritious meal plans tailored specifically to her needs. It wasn't easy—Luna is a picky eater—but after experimenting, I created three delicious meals she loved, packed with vitamins and nutrients. After all, I wouldn’t want to eat the same food every day, so why should she?
During this challenging period, Luna was prescribed a medicine called hydrocodone for her collapsed trachea, which was intended to suppress her persistent cough and reduce inflammation. Watching her playful spirit fade, her vibrant bark weaken, and finally waking up one night to find her sick and uncomfortable was devastating. Seeing her sad eyes looking up at me, ears lowered, broke my heart. I knew something had to change immediately.
Today, Luna weighs a healthy 9 lbs, runs joyfully at the park, and rarely coughs when she barks. At our last vet visit, the vet looked at Luna and told me, “Whatever you did was a miracle—she no longer needs surgery. Keep doing exactly what you’re doing!”
That's when Luna's Lunchbox was born. Luna's journey inspired me to help other dogs heal and thrive, starting from the bowl up. Together, Luna and I are committed to bringing health, happiness, and healing to dogs everywhere.
